Wapakoneta Golf Falls to Coldwater
WAPAKONETA- In a Senior Night non-league match at the Wapakoneta Country Club, the Wapakoneta boys golf squad fell short to Coldwater 181-173.
Redskin senior Preston Hinkle led Wapakoneta with a round of 39, while fellow senior teammates Eli Van Meter (45), Holden Bowersock (48), Caleb Miller (49), Griffin Block (54), and Anthony Bailey (60) followed.
The visiting Cavaliers were led by co-medalists Landon Knapke and Tyler Overman, who each contributed 39 strokes in the win. Briggs Howell (45), Oliver Vickory (50), Bryant Evans (50), and Ty Wenning (53) rounded out the Coldwater squad.
With the loss, the Redskins fell to 6-7 (5-5 in WBL) and will travel to Van Wert’s Willow Bend Country Club on Thursday for the Western Buckeye League Championships.
CELINA- In Mercer County, the Lady Redskins visited Coldwater for a non-league match of their own, coming home on the losing end of a narrow 232-230 loss.
Leading Wapakoneta was sophomore medalist Hannah Lee, who played a round of 50. Emily Klopfenstein (58), Lauren Miller (61), Mya Selby (63), Lauren Palmer (65), and Maci Neumeier (73) followed.
The home-standing Lady Cavaliers were led by Madison Bruns (54), Tori Tinnerman (56), Ella Kaiser (59), Aubree Davis (61), Kate Hemmelgarn (64), and Lauren Ayers (67).
With the defeat, Wapakoneta fell to 7-8 and will look to have success at their own Western Buckeye League Championships on Wednesday at Pike Run Golf Club in Ottawa.
