Fifth Inning Spark Leads Jackets Past Wapakoneta Skins

WAPAKONETA- The Wapakoneta 7th (Skins) Grade PONY League Baseball squad was unable to keep up with Sidney Tuesday night, so they dropped 8-2 at American Legion Field.Â
After four scoreless innings, the visiting Yellow Jackets got on the board in the top of the fifth when an error scored one run, a dropped third strike scored another, and Connor Drees doubled, bringing in two more. After Sidney added three more in their next time at the dish, the home-standing Redskins avoided the shutout in the home half of the sixth on an RBI groundout and flyout.Â
Ayden White took the loss for Wapakoneta on the hill. The righty went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits, sitting down six and walking one. Offensively, the Redskins racked up two hits.Â
Titus Morgan earned the win for Sidney. He gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, retiring two and walking one. Connor Smith toed the rubber first for the Yellow Jackets. The right-handed starter gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, punching out five and walking one. Bryson Manger went three-for-three to lead at the plate.Â
The Wapakoneta Skins are back in action on Thursday at Lima Senior.
