Dearinger Wins T102 Country Star Playoffs
WAPAKONETA- Wednesday evening, in the Frost Roofing Entertainment Tent at the 172nd Auglaize County Fair, was the final round of the annual T102 Country Star Playoffs.Â
Five contestants that advanced from the first three rounds (Putnam County Fair, Wapakoneta Summer Moon Festival, and Shelby County Fair) gathered Wednesday evening in the stifling heat, competing for the top prize of $2,500. With songs played by Exploit, each of the 15 young performers sang two songs to a packed Auglaize County crowd.Â
Judged by Amy Vasquez (who sang too), Greg Allen, and Jen Dennis, contestants included Lauren Marie, Chaz Slattman, Marcus Welby, Eric Truxall, Lara Pryor, Kennedy Parker, Aaron Buchanon, Allison McClintock, Matt Bowers, Kennady Murlin, Ella Aufderhaar, Tracey Ketcham, Sammy Barnhardt, Justin Hook and Kaylee Dearinger.Â
Dearinger came home with gold after performing to her hometown crowd, while Murlin and Truxal finished second and third, respectively. Second place won $700, while $300 went to third place.
